Viet Nam launched scholarship project 89 to enhance competencies of academic and administration staff at HEIs in Viet Nam from 2021 to 2030

Project 89 is a government programme aiming to enhance the competencies of academic and administration staff at higher education institutions (HEIs) through master/PhD scholarship training in Viet Nam, overseas, or transnational education (TNE). Under the Project 89, HEIs in Viet Nam will be enabled to collaborate or form partnerships with HEIs overseas including the UK to deliver training to funded scholars. Master degree will be offered to scholars in arts, sports and physical education and will be delivered in partnership with selected HEIs which are University of Arts London, University for Creative Arts, and University of Warwick, while doctoral degree will be offered to scholars in all disciplines through training in Viet Nam, overseas, or TNE.

The British Council in Viet Nam, Department of International Trade - British Embassy in Viet Nam and UK – Viet Nam Higher Education Network co-organised a webinar on Project 89 on 03 December 2021. Represenatives from the Ministry of Education and Training Viet Nam and experts from UK and Viet Nam HEIs shared information on the scholarship scheme and collaboration models at the webinar.
