UPDATE: deadline extension and subject details- Contribute advertisements and advertorials in ‘Medicine & Dentistry and allied subjects’ and ‘Social Science’ e-Guides for students in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka

Introduction

Update:

  1. We have extended the deadline for sharing your expressions of interest for this opportunity to 30 September 2021.
  2. Responding to feedback from UK higher education institutions, we have expanded on and detailed the subject range for the two e-guides to include the following:

Humanities and Social Science including Economics, Politics, Sociology, Social policy, Social work, Anthropology, Human and social geography, Development studies.

Medicine & Dentistry and Allied Subjects, including studies, dentistry and dental hygiene, technology, health education, Medicine (general) and clinical, anatomy, physiology, and pathology, pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmacy, complementary medicines, therapies, and wellbeing, nutrition, dietetics, optometry, oral medicine, nursing and medical technology

UK universities and institutions are invited to place advertisements and advertorial content in two e-publications for UG and PG students in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This is a great opportunity to raise your brand and profile in the South Asia market to thousands of students.

On the back of the highly successful STEM Guide , Scholarships Guide, Creative Arts guide, Business and Management guide the British Council is delighted to announce two new digital publications for distribution to students in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The first publication will be on a traditionally popular and professional subject of Medicine & Dentistry and & Allied subjects.
This publication will include content on Health studies, dentistry and dental hygiene, technology, health education, Medicine (general) and clinical, anatomy, physiology, and pathology, pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmacy, complementary medicines, therapies, and wellbeing, nutrition, dietetics, optometry, oral medicine, nursing and medical technology and we invite you to advertise specific courses, scholarships, opportunities and profiles on these themes. While the subject is a broad one, we expect a lot of interest from students on the specialisms and would encourage UK higher education institutions to contribute on those.

The second one will be on another popular subject in the region and one that has been growing as well – Humanities and Social Sciences. This publication will include content around Economics, Politics, Sociology, Social policy, Social work, Anthropology, Human and social geography, Development studies.
We invite you to promote your specific courses, scholarships and opportunities in these specific subject areas as large numbers of students will be interested in these specialisations.

Both e-guides are popular themes for students in the region and we expect the publications to be downloaded and received very well in the local student and parent markets.

Please refer to HESA mapping document on the complete range of specialisms this can include.

Since the e Guides – STEM and Scholarships was introduced in December 2020 and Creative Arts and Business Management was introduced shortly after that to our audiences and stakeholders in South Asia, the reputation of this guide has become well-established along with the British Council’s work in promoting UK education in the region. A combined approach involving our networks of schools, higher education institutions, and alumni with promotional activities on social media and digital spaces, paid marketing campaigns ensured a well distributed promotion of the e-guides in the region.

You can see the STEM Guide , Scholarships Guide , Business and Management guide, Creative Arts guide here

The e-guides for 2021-22 will position the UK strongly as a premier study destination, designed to help students choose the UK over competitor markets. The guides will share information on studying these subjects in the UK, teaching methods, entrance exams, how to qualify, career opportunity, and have testimonials from students and alumni as well Generic information on Study UK education at all levels will be included.

This year UK HEIs continue to have reduced exposure in South Asia’s key markets where they would have relied on fairs, roadshows and school tours. Lack of travel, physical interactions and competing in what has become a crowded digital space for international education requires you to stand out and raise your profile to exactly your target audiences.

E guides will be frequently used in events organised by the British Council throughout the year including the popular and large footfall events like Virtual Fairs. Booking a profile page in e Guides is a cost-effective investment for UK institutions looking to promote their offers more extensively as well as to maintain their presence in the market.

The Humanities and Social Science guide offers a highly accessible and cost-effective channel for UK institutions to promote their offer to an audience of prospective students in South Asia.

This is a growing subject in south Asia and addresses the needs of students not choosing to pursue STEM. This is an excellent opportunity to be seen as distinct and raise your profile to the market.

Please refer to HESA mapping document on the complete range of specialisms this can include.

HESA data representing Medicine & Dentistry and Allied subjects and Social Science courses opted by the students in the South Asia region for the year 2019-20. This data includes both Undergraduate and Postgraduate student numbers.

Details of the two guides and offers therein including marketing plan and cost has been given below.

Benefits to UK Institutions:

  • Key publications for a South Asia audience: Both the e-guides offer a highly accessible and cost-effective channel for UK institutions to promote their offer to prospective students in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. These are two highly relevant themes for the region and will be well received.
  • Massive reach and targeted promotions: Last year the e guides reached an audience of over 900,000 students and influencers including parents, counsellors, agents and education leaders allowing participating institutions to extend their brand awareness to a very large section of our targeted audiences. This year we aim to reach over 1 million people in South Asia.
  • Access to multiple distribution channels: Promotional and distribution lists of the e Guides will be coordinated with the British Council’s education events all year round, including study UK fairs, virtual school tours, agents and counselor’s engagements and other local events. The e publications will also be sent to our databases across English and Teaching Centers, Library, Study UK, Arts, Schools, Higher Education and more ensuring your brand gains recognition amongst a wide cross section of students, learners and influencers.
  • Cost Effective and streamlined: This is a one-stop shop for UK HEIs to promote courses in these subjects to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. UK Institutions can choose to list all their related courses and scholarships, feature alumni and current student stories and share institutional profiles
  • Ideal for UK HEIs with low brand visibility in South Asia: This is the perfect opportunity for UK HEIs with growing brand visibility in India and wider south Asia to build their profile in these markets. India is one of the biggest international student markets now, Pakistan is showing strong growth, Nepal has shown unprecedented growth and Sri Lanka to is growing student numbers to the UK while Bangladesh’s rising UG numbers to the UK look promising. Every market in South Asia has a unique potential and this publication will help you respond to all markets at once.
  • Perfect for UK HEIs who can’t travel this year: UK HEIs are unable to travel this year as well and meet students face to face, attend events and generally maintain their brand presence in these markets. This is the perfect opportunity for UK HEIs who feel they are losing brand presence through a lack of physical interaction as it will be downloaded and shared widely amongst student communities and your brand will gain wide exposure, and on an authentic trusted British Council platform
  • Flexibility for UK HEIs on what they want to showcase: The content for the guides will be audience focused and designed to help them choose the UK and will position the UK first. UK HEIs will be able to choose from a wide range of contributions for the guides including brand advertisements, course promotions, alumni profiling, authoring articles and advertorials, advice columns, how-to guides, busting myths and more.
