Key details/Event FAQs

1. Audience: Re participants, are they all English lecturers, teaching university students?

Answer: Yes. They are all English lecturers. Most of the participants are from universities, and the English teachers are from across China

2. Topic: Should the topic focus on teaching methodology? If yes, what might the teachers want/need? This information is very important in designing any similar event, to ensure relevance.

Answer: If it is aimed at teaching methodology, we hope to focus on EFL teaching strategies, student-centred teaching activity design, or online integrated EFL classrooms. We are open on the topic. It could also focus on academic research or any topic the speaker thinks might be helpful for the teachers’ professional development.

3. No. of audience: Is there any expectation re number of potential participants, 50-100, 100-200 or more?

Answer: If we use meeting software, like Zoom meeting, we may have approximately 200 to 300 participants. We are also considering other forms of live broadcasting platform, which may be better and measurable.

4. Speaker profile: According to the pay rate, does the partner expect or prefer university professors or associate professors to deliver the webinar? Would a freelance trainer with experience of training HE staff be an option as well?

Answer: We prefer university professor or associate professor to deliver the webinar. UK freelance trainers with experience of training HE staff can be an option as well. This session has a certain academic and professional background, so it is recommended to find professional teachers, or trainer.

5. Payment approach: British Council is happy to recommend consultants, based on previous experience of collaboration and track record, but the Chinese partner will need to handle payment to the consultant directly. Would that be ok?

Answer: It's OK.
