Sponsorship Opportunity at the Malaysia School Lab competitition

School Lab, an annual competition in Malaysia run jointly by the British Council Malaysia, Ministry of Education Malaysia and Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) is seeking prospective UK higher education institutions which are interested to sponsor two of their annual events, one, at the School Lab finals competition and two, a masterclass event at three winning schools.

Benefits to UK institutions

Through the sponsorship, UK institutions will be able to engage with a highly targeted group of students who are interested in subjects related to STEM. This will be a good opportunity for UK institutions to build their future recruitment pipelines as the students they will be engaging with are from the lower-secondary levels (aged 13 - 15). Institutions will be able to position themselves as an expert in the STEM field and be the first to come into the minds of these students when they start to consider their options for higher education, which usually happens at the beginning of the upper-secondary level (ages 15 - 16).

Institutions will also be able to engage with key stakeholders in the Malaysian market such as the Ministry of Education, the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), parents, school teachers and leaders and other students who might be present at the events.

Sponsorship opportunities

UK institutions will be able to come in as a sponsor at the School Lab competition finals where they are able to engage with 16 finalist school teams (with up to 3 students per team), their supporters, school teachers and representatives from the Ministry of Education. Institution will be provided a table and chair at the competitition where students will be able to speak to representatives and find out more about your institutions' courses.

The Masterclass event, on the other hand, will allow up to two UK institution to go into one of the three winning schools together with an external trainer on science communication to  deliver a seminar on a STEM-related subject. The two institutions will also be provided a table and chair at the masterclass delivery venue where students will be able to speak to representatives and find out more about your institutions' courses.

Detailed information and the costs are available in the attachments below.

Deadlines

We do regret the extremely short notice provided for this opportunity, however, the British Council was just informed by the Ministry very recently. As the date of the finals is in October, we would like prospective UK institutions to come back to us soonest.
