Kuwait engineering study tour November 2013

The British Council in the Kuwait is planning to organise a visit by engineering academics from leading UK universities in November 2013.

Since engineering continues to grow in popularity as a degree programme of choice for Kuwait-domiciled students, the ultimate goal of the study tour is to help Kuwait stakeholders develop a greater appreciation of the strengths of a UK engineering education so that they actively encourage more students to study engineering in the UK rather than another country.

In order to achieve this, we would meet with scholarship agencies, education agents and educational institutions with the aim of helping them to understand the structure and content of UK engineering degrees, opportunities for post-graduate study, and career prospects.

We have already contacted schools and scholarship agencies to gauge their interest and the response has been extremely positive.

Universities will need to be able to release engineering academics to present on one of the following priority areas of the Kuwaiti market:

o Mechanical Engineering
o Civil Engineering
o Electronic & Electrical Engineering
o Chemical Engineering
o Petroleum Engineering
o Automotive Engineering
o Aerospace Engineering
o Nuclear Engineering
o Agricultural Engineering

We are suggesting a one-week visit to include:

o Briefing meeting with British Council
o Briefing meeting with the scholarship agencies in Kuwait
o Briefing meeting with education institutions in Kuwait
o Briefing meeting with education agents in Kuwait
o Open public road show and the opportunity for scheduled one-to-one meetings with education agents in Kuwait.

We are aiming to share a detailed agenda and participation costs by the end of August once we have received your expressions of interest.

Please note that we do encourage you to indicate up to three areas of interest from the list above and we will accept one institution per area of interest. Additionally, institutions will be selected on a first-come-first-served basis and in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s list of approved institutions/programmes.

Action Required

Please forward your expression of interest by 4.00 p.m. on 23 August 2013 to Imran Yousaf, Projects Manager, Kuwait, or call +965 22515512, ext: 247 for more details.
