Host and Training Provider needed for a group of Korean Music/Art Teachers

 

Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (DMOE) is looking for a UK host institution that can deliver a training programme for Art and Music teachers from South Korea. British Council in Korea will be collecting all applications and summarising responses, and submit to DMOE.

 

  1. Organisation : Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education(DMOE) in South Korea
  2. Theme of Training: Creativity and convergence Educational training for Art teachers in Music and Fine Arts 
  3. Background: Facing the 4th Industrial Revolution era, Korean government reforms the national curriculum on integrated subjects to foster the student’s creativity and converging abilities
  4. Target Audience: 10-12 Music and fine art teachers from secondary school from South Korea and 2 supervisors of DMOE
  5. Language: English translator needed (consecutive interpretation)
  6. Objective
  • To obtain practical experiences on Creativity and convergence Education in the UK
  • To get various ideas resources on the subject in the UK
  • To acquire knowledge from the training in order to possibly adapt/apply a curriculum in Korean context

7. Date

  • 1st option: July 23 - 27, 2018
  • 2nd option: July 30 - August 3, 2018

8. Detailed contents

  • Briefing sessions by lecturers from universities and sector experts on :
  • The philosophy and overall system of art education of the UK
  • Current practice of secondary art education of the UK,  lessons learned and challenges
  • Practice the real activities of integrated art education of secondary school programme
  • Field study on integrated art education at museums, galleries and concert house etc.
  • Observing the real Art and Music classes in a local secondary schools
  • Introduction and practice STEA(Art)M programme which relates to Arts
  • Field Trips to the following places are highly preferred: National Gallery, Royal Academy of Art, Tate Modern Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall(London Symphony Orchestra), Babican Centre, etc: Highly reputable places

9. Budget from DMOE: 10 million Won (Approximately GBP 6,700)

Items inclusive of the budget

  • 4 days of training programmes (at least 5 hours a day) for 10-12 teachers
  • Venue required to deliver the training programmes
  • Training materials in pdf files and print formats, which should be submitted in advance (two weeks before)
  • Admissions fee to related institutions, Museums, and Galleries, and transportation fee. (If the venue is close enough to travel by subway, participants will cover their own transportation fee)
  • Lunch (4 days), light refreshment during the training
  • Translator hiring fee (subject to negotiation)

Items not inclusive of budget (Participants will cover their own)

  • Transportation fee from/to the airport
  • Medical fee or medical insurance

11. Applicant institutions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • The relevance between the lectures and the actual British Education systems (50)
  • Efficient Methodology for teaching(20)
  • Efficiency of field study(20)
  • Quality of lecture (10)
