English Language study tour in May

The British Council’s SIEM Department in the UAE is planning to organise a visit by representatives from British Council accredited EFL institutions in May 2013.

There is a well-documented need for English Language proficiency in the UAE and we would like to give English language providers a chance to showcase the benefits the sector has to offer in support of this need.

Our aim is to introduce delegates to representatives from the scholarship agencies, education agents and educational institutions with the goal of helping them understand the structure and content of various programmes and how these could complement their programmes and help them meet their objectives.

Areas of interest for the UAE include:

  • General English
  • English for Academic Purposes
  • Undergraduate Foundation/Access Programmes
  • Masters Preparation Programme
  • Intensive English
  • Vacation courses for young learners

In an effort to ensure maximum exposure with minimal costs, the suggested itinerary, subject to confirmation closer to the date, will be over two or three days and include:

  • Briefing meeting with the British Council
  • Briefing meeting with the scholarship agencies in Abu Dhabi
  • Briefing meeting with education institutions in both  Abu Dhabi & Dubai
  • Open public forums and the opportunity for scheduled one-to-one meetings with education agents in both Abu Dhabi & Dubai

Please note that while you are welcome, and encouraged, to indicate up to three areas of interest, we are only able to accept one institution per area of interest above and will, therefore, have to allocate spaces on a first-come-first-served basis.

We are aiming to share a detailed agenda and participation costs by the beginning of April once we have received your expressions of interest.

Action Required

Please forward your expression of interest, including suitable dates, by 4pm on 14 March, 2013 to Dina Kanan, UAE SIEM Coordinator, via email on dina.kanan@ae.britishcouncil.org with the subject “English Language Study Tour 2013”.
