The Public Services Department of the Government of Malaysia is interested in collaborating with UK institutions to provide a professional development course on negotiation skills for a cohort of 20 senior-level public service officers.

This high-level negotiation skills for public service training programme must be delivered within four months, from June to September 2024. It must cover essential topics for negotiation skills, such as critical communication strategies, conflict resolution techniques and ethical considerations. The deliverable is a bespoke coaching and a programme to build high-level negotiation skills addressing global challenges, with a professional certificate awarded upon completion. The inclusion of immersion learning opportunities within industry is preferred, but not essential.

Programme details

• Theme: Beyond Borders - Cultivating Elite Negotiators for Global Challenges
• Aim: to develop visionary negotiators, strategic in their thinking and innovative in their tactics, by imbuing participants with a deep understanding of international diplomacy, cultural sensitivities and the art of persuasion.
• Outcomes: it is expected that participants will emerge as expert negotiators and as leaders capable of steering conversations, building consensus, and forging alliances that are conducive to peace stability and prosperity at a global stage.
• Structure: four to six modules covering the fundamentals of negotiation, impactful negotiating and implications, negotiation in conflict resolution, negotiation for trade partnerships, cultural-sensitive negotiations, trust and ethics in negotiation, prepare and developing briefs for negotiation, utilising technology and digital tools in negotiations, navigating negotiation in communication strategies and conflict resolution.
• Content delivery: classroom, panel discussions, journalling, simulations, industry expert engagement, seminars, workshops, on-the-job experience.
• Programme delivery: on-site, In-person
• Duration: four months, from June-September 2024 (non-negotiable)

UK education institutions or chartered bodies providers, with

• a track record of delivering executive training programme in negotiation skills for public service
• a proven track record in successfully delivering high-level upskilling programmes for the government or public service
• experienced faculty members offering valuable insights and practical knowledge in negotiation strategies relevant to current industry challenges
• the ability to offer a negotiation skills training executive programme that can lead to a UK accredited qualification that is globally recognised
• dynamic and up-to-date curricula, incorporating the latest research findings and industry best practises to ensure students are equipped with relevant skills for real-world negotiation scenarios.
