British Council Americas invites you to participate in Women in STEM week

Women in STEM week
27 September - 1 October 2021

During the final week of September, we’re offering UK universities a space to join us to celebrate Women in STEM, share best practice and recognise some of the challenges women still face.

Our week of curated content will aim to inspire women from the USA and across Latin America considering the UK as a destination to study a STEM subject (at UG, PG or PhD level), and inform them of the benefits the UK can offer their professional careers.

There are up to 20 slots available, each lasting 50 minutes, and we’re looking for a blend of sessions to fill the week, including (but not limited to):
1. Sessions from inspiring women (ideally from the region) studying or researching in a STEM field
2. Sessions given by faculty or members of the international office on the initiatives and advances the university is making to support women in STEM
3. Sessions/workshops to advise women on how to create a stellar application for a place on a course, or a scholarship, or PhD funding.
4. Open talks on the struggles of being a woman in STEM (with tips/advice).

We also hope to organise a round-table session at the end of the week with various participating universities, to create a discussion about what more can be done to support women enter and stay in STEM. This round table will be publicised not only amongst prospective students, but also to local partners and the UK university sector as a whole.

Precedent
- We ran an incredibly successful campaign to launch the Women In STEM Scholarship – with a social media reach of over 1.5 million. We have engaged audiences and experience in reaching Women in STEM around the region.
- We ran a similar campaign in 2019, which saw over 500 women attend live sessions, with universities each gaining 100+ leads.

Offer
The cost to participate in the campaign is 850GBP, which includes:
- A 50 minute session to cover the topic of your choice
- Leads generated in the sign up for your session
- Inclusion in the 3 week long promotional campaign across social media and email within the USA and LATAM.

We will be accepting proposals for sessions up to 23 August or until the 20 slots fill up, whichever happens first.

This activity will be invoiced in August. Cancellation fees will be charged for withdrawal from this event, as of the date of receipt of notice of withdrawal, at 50% up to 4 weeks before the event, and at 100% 3 weeks or less. Notice of withdrawal must be supplied in writing, via email to both Jenna and Jessica.
