The new government and HRD minister are already working on the challenges in the education sector and are holding discussions for implementation and changes at state, regional and national level.

Some upcoming trends in the Education sector are:

A new initiative to develop sports in the country (The Times of India)
The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and TransStadia have signed a 10-year Alliance Agreement to restructure and popularize this sports eco-system. This agreement will is way of ensuring that India's college going youth get an opportunity to compete at the highest level and bridge the gap between school sports and professional sports. As a part of this agreement, TransStadia will create a new and robust competition structure, to redefine and increase athlete and spectator participation in seven sports namely basketball, athletics, badminton, volleyball, football, tennis and boxing. It is a platform for aspiring young sporting talent to upgrade and prove their talent.

MOOCs could be the answer for world’s largest student population (Hindustan Times)
IIT-Bombay launched three MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) as few months back. MOOCs could be part of a solution to higher education challenges that India is facing. A record number of Indians are signing up for MOOCs, second only to Americans - because students who do not have physical access to higher education.
