All private universities in India will soon come under the purview of the new body, which could be called the Higher Education and Research Commission in a restructured version of the current model of the UGC.

This restructured UGC body will also have members from different educational councils like the All India Council of Technical Education, Medical Council of India and Indian Council of Agricultural Research to provide a holistic view of the Indian education system.

With the restructured body , there will be more vigilance and control on the fake universities that were being set up in India. Additionally with the revamp and change in the UGC model, the new body will be viewed more towards grant giving rather than a regulation body and there will be enforcement of quality and minimum standards in the Indian education system.
