David Cameron makes official visit to Singapore

David Cameron paid an official visit to Singapore as part of a number of visits within South-east Asia, of which the main focus was on trade and investment. During the visit, he made a visit to the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. An official statement said: “Prime Minister Cameron’s visit reaffirms the strong bilateral ties between Singapore and the United Kingdom as the two countries commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.”

Mr Cameron also made a statement on Singapore's founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew: "With his characteristic energy, determination and vision, he took Singapore from independence 50 years ago, and made this country one of the greatest success stories of the modern world. And by inspiring economic reform across the Asia-Pacific region, he helped not only write Singapore's history, but Asia's too."

As part of his visit, David Cameron was scheduled to speak to education leaders to support tie-ups between Singapore and the UK.
