Participate in the Pop Up UK Exhibition Malaysia

UK institutions are invited to participate in an upcoming exhibition organised by the British Council in Malaysia. Pop Up UK aims to showcase innovation and creativity across the UK education sector, as well as the most innovative aspects of British entrepreneurship and design.

About the exhibition

Pop Up UK is designed to profile UK education accomplishments through interactive and hands-on displays.

Taking place in the Klang Valley, between February and March 2025, it will provide an excellent opportunity to promote UK higher education Institutions and courses across four subject areas:

  • Art and Design
  • Sports 
  • Health
  • Engineering and Technology.

Objectives

Pop Up UK aims to inspire audiences to discover more about UK education, research and development.

The exhibition's objectives are to:

• raise the profile of UK higher education and its graduates in the 4 subject areas

• generate interests from Malaysian students and influencers on UK’s creativity, innovation and research

• promote UK higher education as a catalyst as well as the UK as an international innovation and research hub

• raise the profiles of the individual participating institutions.

(Please note: This exhibition is not a direct recruitment event and will not have individual institution booth.)  

Target audience

The exhibition aims to attract over 200,000 visitors, half of whom will be university students who may be looking for professional development opportunities internationally. 

An extensive media and PR campaign will be undertaken by the British Council to ensure maximum impact and exposure.

  • agents and counsellors.

Opportunities for UK institutions

Subject Area Showcase (interactive exhibits)

  1. Health: a display featuring information on medical breakthrough and health courses in the UK. Through interactive VR/AR experiences, we expect visitors to learn more about health sciences, medical research, and patient care in the UK.
  1. Sports Innovation: an interactive exhibit allowing guests to explore the latest advancements in sports science, sports technology, and sports management in the UK. We expect visitors to engage in hands-on activities related to sports performance, analytics, and injury prevention etc.
  1. Engineering and Technology: interactive displays on robotics, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and aerospace engineering are some areas which we hope to showcase to allow participants to discover the cutting-edge research and technological developments taking place in UK engineering schools.
  1. Art and Creativity: visitors should be provided an activity that allows them to experience the vibrant arts and cultural scene in the UK, with displays on music, film, fashion, design, and performing arts. Exhibits that include workshops on creativity, artistic expression, and graduate shows are recommended.

Wraparound activities (GREAT Lecture Series)

This area features engaging and insightful talks by renowned UK experts, academics, and industry leaders in the fields of health, sports, engineering and technology, and arts and creativity. The lectures will offer attendees a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge research, innovations, and trends in these key subject areas. By inviting distinguished UK speakers and UK alumni to share their knowledge and insights, we aim to inspire prospective Malaysian students about the positive study outcomes and unparalleled opportunities available for study and research in the UK. Institutions are welcomed to nominate leading academics, and alumni to present.

How to participate

Interested institutions can apply using the online application form.

Within the form, you will describe the exhibits you would like to showcase (preferably with photos) and state if there are any special requirements.

You can also nominate speakers for the GREAT Lecture Series.  

Costs

Participation is free.

Institutions will need to cover the costs of transporting the exhibits (to and from the space), as well as any insurance costs.

Travel costs and accommodation related costs to attending the exhibition and lecture series will not be covered.
